The New Civil Enclave at Kanpur Airport was officially inaugurated by the CM of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath on Thursday. In order to improve passenger amenities and connections, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) worked to construct the civil enclave at Kanpur Airport with a new terminal building. A boost to the region’s general growth will come from the new integrated terminal building, which will increase connectivity to this city.

When the terminal becomes operational, its new area will grow by a factor of approximately 16 over its current size. The event was also attended by Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, General VK Singh, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, and Chairman of the Airport Authority of India (AAI), Sanjeev Kumar.

A new civil enclave at the airport was a gift to Kanpur locals

A new civil enclave at the airport was a gift to Kanpur locals, who were thanked by the chief minister. During the inaugural speech, the CM stated that before 2017, only two airports in the State were totally operational, while another two were only partially operational. However, today, nine airports are fully operational, and construction is currently taking place on a dozen additional airports.

The chief minister claimed in relation to the Kanpur Defence Corridor that “PM Modi has tried to restore the former glory of Kanpur by transforming the district into a new code of the Defence Corridor.” The Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the government in Uttar Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have fulfilled the inhabitants of Kanpur’s wish to have their own airport following the metro, claims Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

As it is an industrial city, the airport has been outfitted with all the amenities, and there are plans to operate domestic flights as well as other flights from this airport in the future to serve the needs of the locals. The capacity of the airport has expanded by a factor of 20 according to Union MoS VK Singh. In the past, Kanpur had a very little airport. Now, the new airport’s interior space is 20 times larger. An excellent airport has just been built near the industrial city of Kanpur, improving connectivity.

He added that the airport’s facilities might be expanded to accommodate future growth in both traffic and passenger numbers. This building features central air conditioning, thanks to an investment of about Rs 150 crore from the Airport Authority of India. The airport, which had a capacity of 70 in 2013–2014, has grown to 150, taking into account civil enclaves and other areas, throughout the nine years of PM Modi’s administration. We’re looking at 50 more airports, said VK Singh.

Additionally, he said that future growth in traffic and passenger numbers could allow for expansion of the airport’s physical space. In the nine years of PM Modi’s administration, the airport—which had a capacity of about 70 in 2013–14—has grown to 150, including civic enclaves and other areas. We’re aiming for 50 additional airports, VK Singh continued.

The new terminal structure, which has a 6243 sq m floor area, can accommodate 400 passengers at its most active level. Eight check-in counters, three conveyer belts (one in the departure ball and two in the arrival ball), an 850 sqm concessionaire area, and a tactile route are just a few of the passenger amenities available. There are 150 automobile parking spaces and 2 bus parking spaces built within the New Terminal Building’s city side.
