The Congress party claimed that the current government want to hand over the Adani group control of India’s logistics for food grains and that this conspiracy had only been partially foiled by the farmers’ uprising, which resulted in the repeal of three farm regulations. The Adani group equities were devalued on the stock exchange after US-based short seller Hindenburg Research produced a long list of claims, including illegal transactions and share price manipulation. The Congress party has continued to criticise the government since then.

The business was founded in 1957 to assist India’s demands for food storage, and over the past two years, it has kept 55 lakh tonnes of food grains. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry opposed the denotification of the warehouses as a part of the Adani SEZ, which the SC (Supreme Court) observed had aided Adani’s attempt to gain control of two significant CWC major houses close to Munda Port. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, on the other hand, supported CWC’s position.

According to the judgment, it does not augur well for the Union of India to speak in two divergent voices, and the two departments of the Union of India cannot be allowed to adopt positions that are directly at odds with one another. Even when Piyush Goyal was appointed Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution in 2020, this Adani-inspired inter-ministerial rivalry was permitted to continue. If a minister is perceived as being connected to business interests and does not take the initiative to help an entity in the public sector that he is in charge of. Is it not logical to believe that he is, in fact, aiding the Adani group in order to forge solid ties with it in the electoral bond? General Secretary of Congress remarked.
Adani Agri Logistics, which has become the major beneficiary of the Food Corporation of India’s silo deals, with the most recent award being one to set up 3.5 lakh metric tonnes of storage in U.P. and Bihar, would have been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the farm legislation. Adani Farm-Pik was permitted to establish a monopoly-like position in the Himachal Pradesh apple market in the meantime.
