Today, Grupo Fuentes, a significant operator of transportation and cold storage facilities with headquarters in Murcia, Spain, revealed its desire to be acquired by one of the world’s top temperature-controlled industrial REITs and suppliers of logistics solutions.
Over 500 cars and trailers, six logistics centers, a cold storage facility, and services to support those facilities are all run by Grupo Fuentes. It is also a founding partner in Reefer Terminal, a joint venture to provide an intermodal transportation platform that combines services for rail and road cold-storage shipping. The main office of Grupo Fuentes is in Murcia, and it also has locations in Galicia, Madrid, Navarra, Valencia, and the Netherlands. Some of Spain’s largest food and retail enterprises are among the firm’s clients, and a sizable portion of the company’s revenue comes from the provision of cold storage, transportation, and foreign transport services for Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. In Murcia, Grupo Fuentes operates a cold storage facility with 60,000 pallet positions, and the company intends to enlarge it with an additional 40,000 pallet positions.
It is anticipated that the Fuentes family would continue to oversee Lineage’s operations in Spain and take a prominent position there.
In May 2021, Lineage made its first foray into Spain when it bought the Navarra and Asturias warehouses of Frigorificos de Navarra. Lineage’s recent development of its European warehousing facilities is complemented by the acquisition of Grupo Fuentes and its transportation fleet. The Fuentes family receives both financial and legal advice from Deloitte. Financial and legal guidance for Lineage is provided by Rabobank, Seven Lakes Partners, and Latham & Watkins and Garrigues. One of the top global suppliers of logistics services and temperature-controlled industrial REITs is Lineage Logistics. It has a global network of more than 400 strategically placed facilities with a combined capacity of more than 2 billion cubic feet that covers 20 nations in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Lineage develops and instals cutting-edge technology, has an unmatched real estate network, and has industry-leading competence in end-to-end logistical solutions. This improves sustainability, reduces supply chain waste, and, most importantly as a Visionary Partner of Feeding America, contributes to feeding the globe. Lineage was ranked No. 3 in the 2022 CNBC Disruptor 50 list, a Deloitte US Best Managed Company in 2022, the No. 1 Data Science company, and ranked 23rd overall on Fast Company’s 2019 list of The World’s Most Innovative Companies in addition to being listed on Fortune’s Change the World list in 2020 in recognition of the company’s leading innovations and sustainability initiatives.
To better serve our clients across the Lineage network and all of Europe, Grupo Fuentes will quicken its continuous expansion into the transport services sector
Lineage Logistics seized this excellent chance with both hands. This has been a fantastic endeavour. They saw the potential of the nation’s food business and the fact that Spain is a significant food producer. This acquisition will likely close sooner rather than later, and the company will be hoping that it achieves the same outcomes and reaches its full potential as soon as possible.
