Michael Hopkins was appointed as the Chief Executive of the National Transport Commission (NTC) by the Federal Government for a five-year term in the first week of July. The Federal, State, and Territorial Governments established the National Transport Commission (NTC) to create national reforms to enhance the efficiency, security, and environmental performance of road, rail, and multimodal transportation.

Hopkins brings to this position a wealth of experience in strategic policy reform, knowledge of the transportation industry, and connections with high-level stakeholders. He has previously held a number of top executive positions with the National Transport Commission and the Victorian Government.

The hiring of Hopkins as the NTC CEO has prompted a response from the Bus Industry Confederation. “On behalf of our great bus and coach industry, we welcome Michael Hopkins’ appointment as the new CEO of the National Transport Commission for the next five years,” the BIC declares. “We are eager to collaborate with Michael and his colleagues as the improvements to the Heavy Vehicle National Law advance.”

According to Federal Transport Minister Catherine King, Hopkins’ appointment will provide the NTC with solid leadership and increase its ability to handle problems in the transport industry.

The hiring of Hopkins as the NTC CEO has prompted a response from the Bus Industry Confederation.
