In order to improve railways employing the most cutting-edge technologies for rail freight, GATX Rail Europe, a full-service railcar lessor, and Nevomo, a European deep-tech firm and the creator of a revolutionary, hyperloop-inspired MagRail technology, have partnered.

The recently introduced Booster components, being a part of the well-known MagRail system, will be installed on standard goods wagons provided by GATX Rail Europe and tested on rail infrastructure outfitted with the system’s trackside devices as part of the joint development of the new MagRail system capabilities.

As a component of the MagRail product range, MagRail Booster makes it simple to convert existing rail cars with linear motor propulsion. New vehicles are needed for further MagRail goods that are intended for both freight and passenger transportation.

The firms’ collaboration will enable testing on Nevomo’s test track in Nowa Sarzyna utilising regular goods wagons as well as further development of the MagRail system’s new features.

New vehicles are needed for further MagRail goods that are intended for both freight and passenger transportation.

“The attractiveness of Nevomo’s MagRail Booster technology is an opportunity to upgrade existing railways, both in terms of the infrastructure and the rolling stock,” stated Jörg Nowaczyk, Chief Commercial Officer at GATX Rail Europe. As a result, railroads will be able to expand more quickly and increase their capacity, both of which are desperately required for efficient and effective logistics while maintaining compatibility and interoperability with the current operations.

MagRail was created to expand the capacity of existing railway lines and boost rail transit effectiveness easily, swiftly, and affordably. The MagRail Booster was created to augment current rail services, enabling infrastructure electrification and traffic automation with better flexibility, capacity, and dynamics.

The freight and logistics transit issues that railway operators, terminal operators, and rail infrastructure managers encounter are addressed by Nevomo’s MagRail Booster technology. Single Booster wagons can function independently without being connected to the locomotive, which is a significant benefit of this method.

The freight and logistics transit issues that railway operators, terminal operators, and rail infrastructure managers encounter are addressed by Nevomo’s MagRail Booster technology.

By fusing cutting-edge technologies inspired by the hyperloop with tried-and-true solutions for rail transit, both businesses are dedicated to bringing rail travel to a completely new level. The gap between the current rail network and the brand-new digital rail systems is filled by Nevomo’s technology.

Major participants in the European rail sector have already expressed their high regard for Nevomo’s MagRail technology, as seen by the signing of multiple agreements with companies including Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), duisport, and SNCF.

The longest test track in Europe for passive magnetic levitation was built in Nowa Sarzyna, Poland, by Nevomo in a full scale and finished in 2022. The initial tests have already started, and they will now be expanded to include MagRail Booster tests using standard goods wagons on MagRail infrastructure
