A consortium led by Teamglobal Logistics Private Limited will start operation in January at a rail-linked CFS (container freight station) near Jawahar Lal Nehru Port located in Mumbai after winning a Twenty-year deal from state-owned CWC (Central Warehousing Corporation), sources said.
Polaris Logistics Park Pvt Ltd, a company formed by Teamglobal Logistics Pvt Ltd, Sinnar Agrovet Pvt Ltd, and Isa Logistics Pvt Ltd, will run the Central warehousing corporation, located some 12 Kilometres from J N port, on an O&M (operation and maintenance) contract, a source said. A CFS is a facility licensed by the CD (Customs Department) to help decongest a port by shifting containerized cargo and Customs-related activities outside the port area. Due to space constraints and customs procedures at India’s port, clearance takes place at such facilities. The facility of attached rail sliding is an added advantage as it helps move containers directly to Jawaharlal Nehru Port and vice versa.

Central warehousing corporation logistics park is one of the biggest among the 36 CFS that service J N Port, which is India’s biggest state-owned container gateway. The central warehousing corporation had sought to pick a new operation and maintenance contractor to run the facility after the previous contract given to Hind Terminals Private Limited ended earlier this year. The Teamglobal logistics consortium quoted a royalty of over Rs.400 per TEU (Twenty-foot container or in other terms Twenty Equipment Units) and a minimum guaranteed throughput of 24000 TEUs a month to emerge the successful bidder.
