Noida International Airport (NIA) has struck a deal with Siemens Logistics India Private Limited to become India’s first airport to achieve net zero emissions
Siemens will develop, supply, install, commission, operate, and maintain the airport’s arrival and departure baggage handling system under this arrangement. Siemens VarioTray technology is modular and extensible. It will provide rapid and accurate baggage transportation. This will be a completely automated, precise system that ensures each bag is traced along its trip with live status updates. The system will work in tandem with airport operations to deliver quick luggage handling. Its design and arrangement will also ensure dependable and energy-efficient bag transportation. The Siemens VarioTray can convey bags at a speed of up to 10 m/sec. According to the statement, the baggage is delivered in individual trays, which improves handling accuracy and accountability of each and every single bag, provides customers with peace of mind, and improves airline turnaround performance.The Noida International Airport (NIA) will link the greater Delhi area and Western Uttar Pradesh to cities throughout India and the world. This world-class airport will blend Swiss efficiency and Indian hospitality to provide travelers with rich experiences as well as full commercial attractions and services. Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) was formed to develop, build, and operate the Noida International Airport, a greenfield project. The business, a wholly owned division of Zurich Airport International AG, would be in charge of implementing the public-private partnership initiative in collaboration with the governments of Uttar Pradesh and India. Noida International Airport’s concession era began on October 1, 2021 and will last for 40 years. The airport will have one runway and one terminal when it opens at the end of 2024, with a capacity of 12 million passengers – with the option for future extension in subsequent construction phases.
