AWS opens a second cloud infrastructure area in Hyderabad, generating 48K jobs a year

AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon.com company, on Tuesday announced the launch of its second AWS infrastructure Region in India called the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region. This announcement serves as yet another confirmation of Telangana’s status as the hub of India’s data centers as well as the preferred investment destination for international players.

With the help of the new AWS Asia Pacific region of Hyderabad, the service company is planning to invest an estimated amount of $4.4 billion in India, which will include the capital expenditure on factors like operational expenses related to the utilities that currently take place, construction of data centers, facility costs and purchase of goods and other services from the businesses in the region. During this period, the investment is also expected to encourage and support over 48,000 annual job opportunities that are full-time. As a part of the AWS supply chain, these jobs in India will include maintenance of facilities, construction, telecommunications, engineering, and other various jobs within the broader economy of the nation.

AWS now has 96 Availability Zones spread across 30 geographic regions with the introduction of the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region.

According to an official statement, by the year 2030, an approximate amount of $7.6 billion is estimated to add to the gross domestic product of India through the construction and operations of the Asia Pacific Region of Hyderabad. Telangana’s position as a forward-thinking data center hub in India was strengthened, according to IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, who welcomed AWS’s pledge to invest roughly Rs. 36,300 crores in the Amazon Web Services Region, Hyderabad. Rao also added that the company is aware of the power of cloud computing and that is why the ministry has collaborated with AWS for the improvement of municipal operations, e-governance, and healthcare and this will also benefit the citizens. The region will encourage growth and innovation for many and more start-ups, public sectors, enterprises, and other organizations in India.

The vice president of Infrastructure Services at Amazon Data Services, Prasad Kalyanaraman said that the AWS Asia Pacific for Hyderabad is an essential part of the long-term investment in India since the inauguration of its first office that was in 2011. He also added that this will support the digital transformation of the country. Now that there is more regional infrastructure available, customers and partners in India can launch applications with higher resilience, availability, and even lower latency.

There will be significant growth and innovation in the “India cloud.” An essential component of the digital ecosystem is data centers. According to Rajeev Chandrashekhar, union minister of state for electronics and information technology, AWS’s investments in expanding their data centers in India are a welcome development and will undoubtedly help spark India’s digital economy.

AWS now has 96 Availability Zones spread across 30 geographic regions with the introduction of the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region. There are also plans to launch 15 further Availability Zones and five other AWS Regions in Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, and Thailand. AWS Regions are made up of Availability Zones, which set up infrastructure in various and separate geographic regions. Three Availability Zones make up the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region, which joins the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region, which debuted in June 2016.

In order to maintain customers’ business continuity, Availability Zones are spaced far enough apart from one another. However, they are close enough to one another to offer low latency for high-availability applications that utilize several Availability Zones. The redundant, ultra-low latency networks that connect each Availability Zone provide independent power, cooling, and physical security.

High availability AWS users can build their applications to run across many Availability Zones to increase fault tolerance. According to an AWS statement, the opening of the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region would allow local customers that desire data residency in India to store their data safely while also offering even lower latency throughout the nation.
