To fulfill this demand, Indira Gandhi International airport is all set to become ready for the fast network of 5G, which will allow the customer to use the contemporary mobile services of the world, once they enter the premises of the terminal as soon as these services are introduced by the TPS (Telecom Service Providers). The next generation of mobile telecommunications, known as 5G, will improve airport applications already in use, including passenger processing, luggage handling, and airport operations, among others.

According to the officials, seamless connectivity, insignificant intermission, better connectivity, enhanced strength of the signal and faster data speed can be experienced by the flyers who have a mobile phone which is 5G enabled along with a sim card. All these facilities, according to the officials will be available at the International Baggage area and Domestic Departure Dock of Terminal 3. They will also be available at the T3 arrivals and car parking.
The distribution of the network across T3 would be done in a gradual system. A small number of TSPs have already equipped their networks to provide 5G service to their customers, and more are expected to do so in the coming weeks. In addition to these, visitors to GMR Aerocity Delhi can experience the 5G network at GMR Square. GMR Square is a new idea for an airport in India, providing simple access to Aerocity’s commercial centers from public areas. At GMR Aerocity Delhi, it offers pedestrian experiential walks. When compared to the current Wi-Fi system, the 5G network will provide passengers with data speeds that are 20 times quicker, or 50 times faster when compared to the current data communication network.

The new and faster network of 5G will also enable the users to download quickly, streaming without any buffering, and ideal functioning of applications that are resource intensive, like great virtual reality experience, 3D gaming, and concentrated connectivity as well. DIAL, a GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited-led consortium that runs and administers Delhi airport, had the In-Building Solutions (IBS) for the 5G network put up well in advance to give its customers a top-notch mobile experience.
This will also allow other airports as well to opt for new and modern technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing, and artificial intelligence also. The CEO of DIAL, Videh Kumar Jaipuria said that Delhi Airport has always stood out when it comes to bringing in new technologies that could be beneficial for the passengers. 5G infrastructure has been built in the airport to enhance the experience of the customers. He also added that this feature of the newest mobile technology will help increase connection density and improve the passenger experience at the airport. Unparalleled data speed, minimal latency, and unified signal strength are all available to passengers.
