Upgrade of Acela Railway trains

Amtrak, US based passenger railroad service has recently declared their increasing speed of Acela trains, they plan to improve a section of the NEC (Northeast Corridor) in New Jersey.

Acela railway trains will enable between New Brunswick and South Brunswick which speed up to 150mph and along with a 16-mile track segment. According to the statement, Amtrak mentions the infrastructure improvement as a part of New Jersey High-Speed Rail Improvement program that aims to reduce traveling time and improve service.

These various speed upgrades are anticipated with the NEC (Northeast Corridor). The extent of works upgraded section which includes installation of new signal power cables and high-speed turn-outs are launching their latest catenary supports and modernizing power substations.

Amtrak’s Acela train is the fastest of any train in North America and according to Massachusetts and Rhode Island it matches their top speeds. The upgrades will permit the latest Acela railway trains to accomplish speeds of 160 MPH during its introduction in Fall 2023, this upgrade can solidifies the NEC for high-speed rail corridor and it permits Amtrak to decrease its traveling trip period in the years ahead.

This Railway train upgrade can install new catenary (overhead wire) supports, new signal power cables and installation of high-speed turnouts, re-establish power substations. Additional eight miles of catenary between the location of Trenton and South Brunswick, NJ is being upgraded, with speed increase and completion is predicted in 2024.
