In Herzogenaurach, Germany, PUMA, a Sports company has begun moving cargo from the Port of Los Angeles to its warehouse in Torrance, CA with fully electric trucks, this initiative has been taken to complements the company’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions throughout its business which is also the part of company. The Freightliner truck which is operated by Puma’s dredge partner National Foundation for India (NFI), is the first test vehicle. It is been said that, the company is expecting to run five electric trucks to move goods from port to warehouse by the end of 2022. On this the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Management & Logistics, Americas, Helmut Leibbrandt said that, “For us this is a huge step towards cleaner logistics. Instead of using an LNG or a clean diesel truck, we can now shift goods from the port to the warehouse with no tailpipe emissions”.

According to the information, last month the company has already announced that it had reduced its own carbon emissions and 88% from purchased energy between 2017 and 2021. With the despite strong revenue growth over the same period, CO2 emissions in the company’s supply chain also fell, which is the most carbon intensive part of its business. Meanwhile, John Amato the Senior Vice President at NFI also said that, “While electric vehicles are already quite common for passenger cars, electric trucking is only starting out. We are excited that PUMA has been willing to join us in this project and to use this new technology in the company’s day-to-day operations.”
