NHLML Proposes To Improve Logistics And Allied Activities In National Capital

NHLML presented a plan to develop a future ready national capital Delhi by developing efficient logistics systems, establishing integrated freight villages at strategic locations with hub and spoke model in and around Delhi.

Recently, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari, had a meeting to review the proposal of National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) to improve logistics as well as allied activities in a better way. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of NHLML to develop a future ready national capital by developing efficient logistics system and establishing an integrated freight villages at strategic locations with hub and spoke model to make the city green in and around Delhi, according to a statement. It has also been said by the ministry that the scheme of NHLML will not only decongest the national capital, but will also bring in huge new investment in the infrastructure sector.

In addition, it will also create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth. According to the statement of MoRTH it is been said that apart from the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, the meeting was attended by Lt. Governor, Delhi Anil Baijal, MoS V.K. Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Ramesh Bidhuri, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and Hans Raj Hans was also present in the meeting. According to the details which is available on the NHLML website, it says that as per as CCEA approve, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has authorized NHLML to develop as many as 35 Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs), wherever feasible on PPP mode.

Thus, MMLPs are being planned at Nagpur, Chennai, Bangalore, Indore, Surat, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Pune, Jaipur, Delhi-NCR, Patna, Kolkata, Anantapur, Ambala, Valsad, Jagatsinghpur, Nashik, Guwahati, Kota, Panaji, Hisar, Visakhapatnam, Bhopal, Bhatinda, Sundargarh, Solan, Rajkot, Raipur, Jammu, Kandla, Cochin, North & South Gujarat and North & South Punjab. NHLML earlier it was known as Cochin Port Road Company Limited, which is a 100% owned SPV of NHAI. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had directed formation of SPV for implementation of MMLP through National Highway Logistics Management Limited as well as for connectivity, highway connectivity to ports as well as other works.
