Recently on Wednesday afternoon there was widespread disruption to rail services running from Portsmouth after a train had to stop due to reports of an object being thrown at it. After this incident it resulted in delays and cancellations to Southern Rail, Great Western Railway, and Southern Western Railway services running between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour. After that National Rail reported that police attended the scene in Hilsea after the train, which had been vandalised, had to stop.

For around 30 minutes the train was allegedly at a standstill in the Hilsea area. At around 11.30am, it was reported by National Rail that the incident had been cleared, but disruption to services continued until around 12.40pm. A statement was given on National Rail’s website was “A train was at a stand in the Hilsea area for around 30 minutes as a result of vandalism. Emergency services were required at the train before it could move off. This has caused delays in the area and resulted in some trains terminating short.”Later on the British Transport Police also provided details like, “British Transport Police were called to Hilsea railway station at 10.43am today (16 February) following a report of an object thrown at a train. Thankfully no one was injured. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.”
At around 11.30am, it was reported by National Rail that the incident had been cleared, but disruption to services continued until around 12.40pm.
