Mawani, which is the Saudi Ports Authority, has signed a long-term deal with Bahri, for the operation and construction of a combined logistics park on a land with an area of 95436 sq meters, that is leased at the Jeddah Islamic Port. Bahri is the national shipping company, which is the largest owner and operator of Very Large Crude Carriers.

The logistics park with an area of 95436 sq m will provide the space for storage and handling services for different types of inbound and outbound shipping containers owned by Bahri and some other bodies. After the completion of construction, Bahri will handle the operations at the state-of-the-art facility for 20 years of duration. The logistics zone will be capable of storing dry and insulated containers, reefer, with other services like maintenance and repair, bonded storage, cleaning of the containers, and haulage that is available to the clients at any given time.

The agreement was signed between Omar Talal Hariri, who is the President of Mawani, and CEO Engineer of Bahri, Abdullah Ali Aldubaikhi in the presence of other senior officials. President of Mawani, Omar Talal Hariri said that the launch of this logistics project will help to form a crucial part of their initiative reach the National Transportation and Logistics Strategy’s objective, which visions the future of the industry and the company is planning to set up logistics zones with similar features within the ports of Saudi as well as beyond the areas of the spot to enhance the value of the company to help it become a global leader of all the logistics services. The kingdom will also provide world-class services in the logistics industry in order to boost economic development and allow the following transformation with Vision 2030.

Mawani is all set in its power to make the Jeddah Islamic Port one of the top ten ports around the globe with its 12.5 kilometers of space, which is equipped with 4 terminals and 62 births. The Mawani President also stated that with the help of concessions and development projects, the company is also making efforts to expand the capacity of the ports and modernize its operations. Capitalizing on the strategic location of the Jeddah Islamic Port, the deal will help to expand the import, export, storage capabilities, distribution, transport and enable the company to raise the service level by the international market standards. Recently, a permit was awarded to DP worth SAR9 billion for a duration of 30 years, to enhance the efficiency of the operations of the port’s container terminal and to boost its capacity by 70%. Abdullah Aldubaikhi also expressed his delight after the deal was inked stating that it is expected to enhance the partnership of the company with Mawani. Both the companies will work towards the development of the Kingdom’s logistics services and make it a global giant which will link three continents.
