Two green corridors were arranged in Telangana’s Hyderabad on Republic Day for transporting a heart and lungs to two different hospitals in the city.

According to the report Hyderabad traffic police facilitated the transport of the live organs (heart) from Begumpet Airport to Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital Secunderabad and lungs from Yashoda Hospital Malakpet to Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad by providing uninterrupted passage for the ambulance carrying the organs. On Republic day, when the whole nation was celebrating it, meanwhile Hyderabad police were busy arranging a green corridor for transportation of a heart from Begumpet Airport to KIMS Hospital.

The medical team carrying the live organ left at 9.28 am and reached KIMS hospital, Secunderabad at 9.32 am. The distance between Begumpet Airport to KIMS Hospital is 3 km, which was covered in 4 minutes.

At 1.27 pm, another green channel was arranged for transporting lungs from Yashoda Hospital Malakpet to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad. The medical team carrying lungs left Yashoda Hospital Malakpet at 1.27 pm and reached Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad at 1.39 pm. The distance between Yashoda Hospital Malakpet to Yashoda Hospital Secunderabad is 12 km, which was covered in 12 minutes.

The efforts of Hyderabad Traffic Police in the transportation of live organs were applauded by the hospital management as it would help save precious lives. In 2022, Hyderabad Traffic Police facilitated organ transport four times.
