In a partnership with the Japanese billionaire, Yasaku Maezawa, Uber Eats made its first fast-food delivery to space on December 11, which took 8 hours and 34 minutes to reach its destination after travelling 248 miles. The historic successful delivery of the eatable contents to the astronauts was announced by Uber Eats through a 25 second video that was shared by the company. Yasaku Maezawa, who is a fashion tycoon and also a space tourist, delivered the food to the astronauts at the International Space Station (ISS). Maezawa left for his ISS mission on December 8, for a period of 12 days. Yasaku Maezawa travelled to an outer space in a Soyuz spacecraft for the mission. At an altitude of 400 kilometers, the space station is orbiting the earth to serve as a space exploration for new technological advances. Interestingly, Uber Eats gave a special
discount offer in the form of promocode as ‘SPACEFOOD’, in order to celebrate the distance between Earth and space. The offer was made valid from December 13 th -19 th for the first 24,800 people.
Yasaku Maezawa documented the whole experience of the 12-days trip to the space and shared the videos on his YouTube channel. After coming back from the ISS mission on Monday, said that the trip was too short and he would have loved to stay there for one more week. Mentioning the reason he said, that it takes 3-4 days to adapt to the nature of zero-gravity and then you are left with just a week. Yasaku went to the space with and his assistant and producer Yozo Hirano and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin. Maezawa has also made the news that he will be buying the seats on the SpaceX aircraft’s first flight to the moon and the flight is scheduled in the year 2023.
