An agile professional

Armed with more than 15 years of experience in logistics and freight forwarding Ruchi Dogra ventured into entrepreneurship with FreightCrate Technologies and trying to break the barriers in a male-dominated industry.

Over the last couple of years, the Indian logistics industry has maintained a high growth rate. It has grown both in terms of volume and the spread of services that it provides. In spite of this growth, there is still a large room for improvement when compared to other nations, especially in the EU. The use of technology, multi-mode modelling using algorithms, transparency in pricing and reporting of movements to clients still remain a challenge in India. There are new age firms that are already bridging this gap and will surely help improve the situation.

We still have a few women, especially at the management level. To address the gender gap, there is a need to create opportunities at all levels, identify talents and develop a career progression plan by providing mentorship, offer flexible work timings and more. Introduction of supply chain & logistics as a subject at school and university level with definitely help create awareness about the industry.
