Ethiopian Airlines to purchase 59 more aircraft from now until 2025

Ethiopian Airlines (ET) plans to purchase 59 aircraft between now and 2025 under its medium-term growth plan that forecasts annual revenue will reach USD 25 billion by 2025, up from unaudited revenue of USD 2.71 billion in 2016/2017.

 

Unveiling the expansion plan to journalists at the airline's headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the manager of ET-Holidays, Seble Wongel Azene, said the airline will expand its network to over 120 destinations by 2025 by which time it hopes to fly 22 million passengers annually.

 

Government-owned ET currently flies 8.8 million passengers annually from 100 international and 19 local destinations, with a fleet of 92 aircraft. It operates 1,681 weekly flights and 240 daily flights across its route network, and carried 338,646 tonnes of cargo in 2016/2017.
